Ate the chipped enamel from the dough hook
What an awesome product. The chipped enamel from the dough hook was so crunchy. Thought it was an egg shell and found out from my wife that the stupid dough hook had chipped again. Would have scrapped the whole hook bare and eat if it it edible. The quality of this product is completely rubbish. By the way, this is my second dough hook that have added that special crunchy ingredients into the dough. Thanks kitchenaid for this lousy product.

Terrible quality
I bought my mixer and didn’t use it for a couple of months, when l used for the first time the hook chipped like most people here are saying. Kitchen Aid replaced with one l used once and agin it chipped. Kitchen Aid tried to tell me that l hadn’t stored it correctly or with metal utensils which l hadn’t done. It is not right and disappointing that they are aware of this issue but they keep replacing them with the same product. The mixer is very expensive and we shouldn’t have to be going through thiskitchen Aid assist your customers this aint right. Thanks

The trouble with the Artisan Mini Dough Hook
I have had my Kitchen Aid Mini for a few months now and really wanted the dough kneading feature. I have used the Artisan Mini Dough Hook at least once a week and have struggled. I have just found a video that very clearly explains how the dough should look during the Kitchen Aid process. The mini dough hook does not seem to fully knead the dough regardless of how long I knead the dough for. Even the video that explained why my doughs were failing said this hook doesn’t do the job properly without intervention. I’m 58 and live alone so do not need the bigger mixer to get the stainless steel dough hook spiral! When I searched for accessories for my mini this did not come up as an option. I love everything else about Mini!

Powder coated dog hook chips.
The doh hook came with the mixer and had been used a few times literally but it chips. We were given a replacement but it is chipped. Very disappointed.

Expect Frequent Replacement
Unfortunately just as many other reviews, I am disappointed with the chipped enamel after not much use of the dough hook. It appears that I need to budget cost of replacement of the dough hook on yearly basis if not more. I mostly make no-knead bread and it was perhaps the fifth time making a bread recipe that requires kneading when the chipping occurred. The dough hook for mini is also more expensive than other dough hooks at $60+
Kitchenaid explains it’s is user error by not re-aligning machine properly or else being bumped in a dishwasher.
I therefore would not recommend Kitchenaid Mini for anyone who plans to regularly make bread. Two friends who regularly made bread by kneading using their Kenwood mixer does not seem to have problems after years of use.

Rubbish
Kitchenaid providing delicate enamel coated accessories with such a high end product is ridiculous. I love my Kitchenaid but loathe the enamel accessories. Cooking accessories should be sturdy, not have to be treated like delicate objects. I just bought the stainless steel one and reviews suggest it is so much better than this one. However I have to wait until May as the steel one is out of stock probably due to everyone having to buy one after chipping their enamel one.

Coating of the dough hook chips
I bought my Kitchenaid about 2 months ago which came with this dough hook and as other comments have mentioned, the coating has started to chip. This can be dangerous as the coating chipped off into my dough - luckily I was able to find it and remove from the dough.
Although it has done its job well for a few weeks, the quality of the coating is poor would not recommend from a safety perspective.
