KitchenAid caught up with writer, publisher and interiors expert Jen Bishop of Interiors Addict, to talk all things food, design and tips on styling in the kitchen space.

Favourite food occasion

Christmas, of course! I'm from the UK so I love a traditional turkey lunch with all the trimmings. Cooking for friends in general is one of life's simple pleasures.

Best advice for styling your kitchen

I'm a big fan of keeping things neutral and timeless (kitchens are expensive and need to last you years). You can add texture and interest and keep things updated every couple of years without starting from scratch. Swap out tiles, splash backs, pendant lighting and paint colours.

Accessories and good looking appliances can make all the difference to the look of a kitchen, like the icing on a cake. Of course, a KitchenAid Stand Mixer is one of those appliances you'll never want to hide away at the back of the cupboard!

Sweet or Savoury fan?

Savoury!

Best recent foodie experience either in or out of the kitchen?

I can't stop going back to Chiswick and Sake.

Biggest mistake you’ve made in the kitchen?

Letting my husband cook (whoops, did I just say that?)

Who has been your biggest inspiration in the world of interior design?

Locally, Greg Natale is an incredibly talented Australian designer. I helped him write his book, The Tailored Interior, last year, which was a huge honour.
