First, register your machine with us! Then explore everything you can do with it.

Let’s get started!

Setting up your espresso machine for the first time

Give the main parts a quick rinse

Give the main parts a quick rinse

Before first use, remove the water tank, drip tray and steam wand, and rinse them in warm water. Dry them fully, then slot everything back into place.

Place water filter and test water hardness

Place water filter and test water hardness

Install the filter into the tank using the mounting aid at the other end of the scoop.

If you're not using a water filter, test the hardness of your water with the testing strips. You can enter that level into your machine (see manual for instructions).

Fill the water tank

Fill the water tank

Next, fill up the water tank to the max line with fresh water from the tap, slot it into place and close the lid.

Switch on and automatic rinse

Switch on and automatic rinse

The machine will run a rinse through the dispenser each time you turn it on and off. Rinsing pre-heats the system for the ideal brewing temperature, then flushes away residue afterwards. Just remember to place an empty 0.7 L (24 oz) container under the dispenser to catch the rinse water.

Fill the bean hopper

Fill the bean hopper

Pour your favorite beans into the bean hopper, or add pre-ground coffee to the dedicated chute next to the hopper. Put the lid back on.

Purge with 4 espresso shots

For the first use, make 4 espresso shots and discard them, to flush everything through before making your first drink. Now you're ready!

MILK TUBE

The optimal water temperature for brewing espresso ranges from 87–96°C.

The KitchenAid Espresso Machines temperature levels (Low-Medium-High) give the ability to adjust within this range, tuning the temperature approx. of +/- 2°C to 5°C, depending on many factors such as grind size, dose, roast and freshness of the coffee.

KitchenAid Fully Automatic Espresso machines are designed to encourage exploration. Simplifying the way to change beans is an important benefit to exploring different roasts and coffees.

A water filter is included with each machine. Additional filters will be available through KitchenAid website.

KitchenAid advises replacement of the water filters every 50L of water or every 6 weeks.
