Bells & Whistles
I bought this two weeks ago as my two year old Sunbeam started to burn toast & set off my smoke alarm. I like the features like defrost warming & the ability to toast thick bread & crumpets. The toast color is perfect but I do find the toast to be very dry with the all the internal moisture released in the process. Some times I will cut the bread in half or remove a portion. When the cycle is finished the height that the toast ejects is not adjustable so I can't manualy raise the toast or pop it up to grab it. I have to wait for the toaster to cool down before I can reach the toast without burning my fingers. I would also like to be able to turn the BEEB alert off with a switch.

A welcome member of our family
Been using this now for a few weeks and really happy with it. Now there are toasters and there are toasters- this one is pretty special. Its ease of use and the dial-in functions with digital readout make toasting the perfect toast so simple. I particularly like the ability to toast muffins and various thicknesses of bread. And to top it all off it is stylish and has added to the pleasing look of our new kitchen.

Huge Disappointment
We bought one of these last month ($225) from Good Guys Cairns Australia expecting a toaster that, at the very least, does the basic things properly such as uniform toasting on both sides of a slice of bread. It couldn't do this.
We put up with it for a month but when visitors started commenting as in, "What is wrong with the toast? Am I using the wrong setting?", we decided that we had a faulty unit. It happens.
We returned it to Good Guys yesterday and got a replacement of the same model. It is worse. You just have to look into it after it is turned on to see that the inner elements are twice as bright and hot as the outer elements. Unsurprisingly this is how the 'toast' turns out. The first unit was bad but this one resulted in a completely untoasted side.
This is isn't just a bad batch. This is a serious engineering design fault in the product. The product should be withdrawn from sale until you can solve this fundamental problem.

Expensive Toast Jail
This is the only appliance where turning it off and back on again works! But you shouldn't have to almost every time you want to free your little toast hostages. Next time I won't be trying to find a companion for my KitchenAid standmixer.
If the toaster could reliably lower and raise the toast I would be happy to leave a glowing review, but for now, that is not the case. Over 3 weeks for customer service to respond to my online warranty claim (you can't get through to anyone on the freecall number).

The same procedure as last year? As every year!
As with the Kettle, the same problem with the Toaster. Replacement needed just after one year.
Apart from the horrible noise that frightens our dogs and cannot be switched off or altered, the Toaster did what it was to supposed to do: toasting. But, just after on year one display faded, and adjustment knobs became quite wobbly. Poor quality, and a price that does not match its value at all. We'll see for how long the replacement works ... but the horrible noise is still present ...

Great Looking Toaster!
I really like the new Kitchen Aid Toaster. However, there should be a lever to lift the toast once it is up. Sometimes that extra lift makes a big difference.

Great although the unit is huge
Happy with it. The unit is very big though. Wouldn’t fit in a small kitchen.

Excellent Toaster
Re-purchased a Kitchen Aid toaster and it's an excellent product. Cooks the toast and crumpets without drying them out. This is a replacement toaster for one that I had for years and it was always reliable hence I wanted the same quality and value for money. Happily recommend Kitchen Aid products for their reliability and after sales service. Whilst you pay more than other brands, you certainly get value for your money given how long they last.
