What is a food processor and what can it be used for?

A food processor is a versatile kitchen appliance that will tackle those tedious tasks in the kitchen, making meal prep a breeze. A food processor can quickly and easily chop, mix, slice, shred, grind, puree, knead and dice. With a range of different sizes, KitchenAid has a food processor to suit everyone's needs.

What is a food chopper and how is it different from a food processor?

A food chopper is a compact appliance which is used for single task applications such as chopping small amounts of vegetables, garlic, herbs, and nuts also making small batches of pesto or mayonnaise. A smaller bowl capacity and fewer included accessories are what makes a food chopper different from a food processor.

What size food processor do I need?

KitchenAid has a variety of different sizes available in our food choppers and food processors. Our choppers are available in 3.5 and 5 cup sizes and are wonderful for smaller single task jobs. Our food processors are available in three sizes 7, 9 and 13 cups. Depending on how many people you are cooking for or the batch size you wish to make, this will determine the size you will require.

Can you make dough in a food processor?

Yes, making dough in a food processor is remarkably easy, our range of food processors all come equipped with an included dough blade so whipping up a batch of bread, a delicious homemade pizza or a quick pasta dough has never been easier.

What is the difference between a food processor and stand mixer?

The primary use of a stand mixer is for mixing and beating ingredients, such creaming butter and sugar, cake and muffin mixtures and meringues. Whilst a food processor can do some of these jobs, its multi purpose blade is mainly used for chopping, mincing, and pureeing. A food processor also comes with a variety of slicing, dicing and shredding discs for easy and vegetable and salad preparation.
