Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy and quiet Got the stand mixer delivered yesterday, and couldn't help but start making a batch of dough. I like to sturdiness of the bowl holder, and if you read the instructions, putting it on and off is easy. Taking the whisk out, is a little more difficult while the bowl is still in, but everything else is good. Haven't been able to attach the chute which is a little disappointing, but other than that, love the safety features, and can't wait to get cranking on my food preps!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best low-price commercial model on the market Why did these other reviewers purchase a commercial model? If you wanted another colour you could have gotten another bowl lift model that would have been more than powerful enough to do home baking. The purpose of this mixer is that it is NSF certified so that it can be used in a commercial setting. I primarily use it for buttercream or large batches of cookies, cupcakes etc. I would have loved to have gotten a Hobart N50 but it is 5x the price and for what I needed it for it wasn't worth it. I typically make wholemeal bread in my Ank so I don't use the dough hook for tough doughs but the Commercial Kitchenaid has been able to complete any baking recipe that requires whipping or beating with ease. The only negative for me is the cage. I understand that it designed to protect the user but it makes it difficult to use some of the hub attachments like the sifter. Otherwise I am very happy with the mixer for my personal needs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Commercial KitchenAid! For starters, as a chef, I needed an affordable, yet functional planetary mixer to meet said requirements. This machine does deliver, yet at a fraction of the cost of Robot Coupe’s Bakermix, or Matfer Bourgeat’s Alphamix or Hobart’s N50. Whilst not as powerful or sturdy as the models listed previously, it still does exactly what’s required of it. I needed to calibrate it slightly after taking it out from the box, but that was straight forward. The machine slightly struggled when dealing with high gluten products, but once you figure out the parameters of the machine, things will gradually become easier. Made in USA too! Just an FYI to all those leaving silly comments about the colour, or it’s difficulty use or the attachments, you’re clearly not using it in a commercial setting which is what it is intended for. - If you don’t like the ‘colour’ buy a different model. Chef’s want functionality, not vanity. - If you can’t use the attachments for it, learn how to read instructions or seek online help. - If you’ve never used or worked in a commercial kitchen, you’ll have a hard time understanding what the extra functions (kill switch, guard) are for. Best suggestion is don’t buy it if you don’t know what you’re doing. The problem is human error or ‘taste’ (which is irrelevant) in this instance. If you need a real solid performing, AMERICAN MADE small COMMERCIAL grade mixer at a VERY affordable price, this is it. Chef’s I recommend this whole heartedly. Amateurs stay away because you’ll end up sounding like some of the people typing these ridiculous comments if you don’t know what you’re doing. Thank you KitchenAid once again for providing this option for industry professionals!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor motor I bought this week ago, was very excited as it would help me making dough for my steamed buns. When i used it, i was a bit dissappointed because i think the motor is not that strong enough to mix the ingredients. I put the speed control to 2 but it stops, i settle to speed 1, it was able to do the job but i was a bit frightened because it seemed to me the motor is not that strong.

We were super excited after using a small second hand mixer for months, after saving every dollar to afford what we thought would be the best thing since sliced bread, we quickly found the 100 year old brand was missing the mark. We even decided to go the commercial model for $1600 to make sure what got the rolls Royce of the home mixing world. Much to our surprise we found ourselves second guessing our decision...first of all Kitchenaid for that price point anything over $500 you should be able to have more variety in the color options not just Empire Red or White for another $200. We opted for Red based on price and are Not in love with the color at all. Now for the machine, the bowl is super hard to take off and even more uncomfortable to put on and lock in. This could have been easily engineered for a much better customer experience and I would happily work with your R&D team to give basic examples for major improvements. Then it’s louder than expected and has quite a bit of movement. The speed adjustment is not solid enough and when you want to advance the speed slightly one step up at a time you’ll find you often slide up 2-3 speeds based purely on the controls which again could easily be redesigned...I find there is many technical faults with this machine. We rated it a 3 star based mostly on the fact we were using a $50 Secomd hand mixer before so anything feels better but to be honest if I was a veteran in the field of dough mixers I think we would be more around 1-2 star rating. For this machine I wouldn’t be as disappointed had it been more fairly priced between $800-1000 and actually got the color we liked simply a black or White finish not to much to ask really. We bought it and stuck with it now, like anything in life we will just make the most of a bad situation.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good mixer for what it is. I have had it for about 2 years now and can't fault it. Nice and quiet, it's not screaming in the back ground. The price is quite high but low if you look at the Hobart N50 for $5.5/8K. Quality good for the money and looks like the ability of a N50 (never used N50) but not the German tank like build that you pay much more for. The max bread doe they say about 2.7kg, I would say if you go more that 2kg make sure the doe is nice and loose, it is starting to work after that. The bole has a firm fit and is nice if you are use to commercial machines. The safety cage is grate peace of mined when you are baking with the kids. This machine is to the best of my knowledge made in the USA so I am happy to pay a bit more for that. They could throw in a second bole which would be very handy. The stainless Shute needs the cage to be modified to allow enough room for product to flow unobstructed. You will need a bigger oven.
